The use of a professional home stager should be looked at as an investment, not an expense! When home staging is done right, our clients are seeing an average of 300% percent return on investment. In 2020 alone our clients saw an average increase of $14,000 OVER list price when staging their homes. Not only did they put more money in their pockets, but their homes were also under contract within days of listing!

Today, I want to share with you some great home staging statistics from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) from a survey they conducted on Realtors, selling agents, and homebuyers. Additionally, we will share our most recent company statistics from 2020 with you.

Why do staged homes sell for more?

The most popular, (and most important!) question we receive from clients is asking what they should expect their return on investment to be when using staging. Below are the staging statistics provided by NAR on what sellers saw when using professional staging. Remember, last year our clients alone saw an average increase of $14,000!

  1. 25% saw a sale price increase of 1-5%

  2. 12% saw a sale price increase of 6-10%

  3. 4% saw a sale price increase of 11-15%

  4. 2% saw a sale price increase of 16-20%

  5. 1% saw a sale price increase of more than 20%

According to NAR, 44% of staged homes saw an increase in their sales price and only 29% of homeowners did not see a change in their sales price.

Based on that statistic alone there is a 73% chance that you will receive the list price or higher when you use professional staging services! With great odds like that, it is well worth considering the investment to stage.

Why do staged homes attract more buyers?

According to the recent NAR survey, buyers are 38% more likely to visit a staged property than an unstaged property. With COVID-19 capturing buyers online with beautiful photos is more important than ever! The more buyers you can attract and get through your door, the more likely you are to end up in a multiple offer situation, which will only drive your list price UP! Over 40% of buyers state that professional staging changed their view of the home and how they imagined themselves living there.

Can buyers’ impressions of the property change, based on staging?

Did you know that according to NAR 83% of sellers' agents say that home staging helps their clients visualize living in the property? Professional staging allows prospective buyers to emotionally connect to the home and start unpacking their things from the moment they step foot into the property. Buyers BUY ON EMOTION!

Additionally, 37% of sellers' agents reported that professionally staging the home to the targeted buyer's taste, positively impacted the value of the home.

When professionally staging your home, you allow buyers to focus on its beauty and don't draw negative attention to the property's faults and flaws. Twenty-three percent of agents reported that their buyers were more willing to overlook property flaws when viewing a staged home than an unstaged home.

Which rooms are the most strategic to stage?

Staged Above is celebrating our 9th Anniversary of being in the Professional Home Staging Industry. We work hard to stay up to date with the newest training and trends to make sure we can deliver our customers exactly what they need. Over our nine years in business, we have created a proven formula that focuses on staging the key areas that prospective buyers will relate to. These areas include the living room, kitchen, master bedroom/bathroom, and dining room.

We want to make sure our clients get the most "bang for their buck" so we want to focus on highlighting the key areas that buyers emotionally connect with and we have found that to be the true "heart of the home" where buyers will be spending the majority of their time.

An important thing to point out is that home staging is not interior design or decorating. Professional home staging strategically creates a lifestyle that speaks to the ideal buyers of a property. We do not stage houses based on the personal preferences of the current homeowner or listing agent.

Our professionally trained staff looks at the individual style/scale of the property, the neighborhood, the area, the comps, and we research who the prospective buyer might be (i.e., single, married, starter home, retirement community, etc.) so that we can market your home to that buyer!

We believe that EVERY home deserves to look its best regardless of location or price point and we offer staging packages for all homes regardless of whether they are currently occupied with belongings or completely vacant.

While today's real estate market is certainly HOT HOT HOT, don't be tricked into leaving money on the table! With the use of professional home staging services, you can put MORE money in your pocket by attracting more buyers to your property right out of the gate and creating multiple offer situations to drive your list price higher!
